Memorial Day in Florida

We went down to visit the Eschens for Memorial Day and had a fun-filled, busy weekend full of firsts for Harrison! Also, Jason got his third hole-in-one while golfing on Sunday, so he was thrilled about that!

On Friday we went over to Citrus Springs Elementary where Poppy teaches P.E. and Car Car teaches 4th Grade. We went to Car Car's class first and met her kids, and Harrison was a HUGE hit! All of the kids wanted to take his picture and play ball with him. They were a huge hit with him as well, he loved all of the attention and put on quite a show for them!

Car Car's students loved rolling the ball to me!

Then Harrison went and spent some time with Poppy during 5th Grade P.E. He and Poppy watched the kids play basketball and soccer, and Poppy also pushed Harrison on the swing and played with him on the grass (another first!). Harrison got the hugest kick out of watching all the kids play. You could tell he wanted to jump up and join them!

Poppy gave me lots of fun balls to play with!

What are those kids doing over there?

Then Aunt Mandy and Uncle Burls came over and we played for a while, it was so fun! Harrison made Mandy laugh with all of his antics.

Look how many cups I can hold Mandy!

Harrison also got to try a popsicle for the first time, it was hilarious. He made a face like this one every time he took a bite because it was so cold, but he ended up really liking it and almost eating the whole thing! It probably felt good on his teeth and gums too.

We all played in the pool every day while we were there and Harrison definitely liked it a lot better than the first time he tried it when he was only a couple of months old! He enjoyed bobbing up and down and standing on the shallow stairs. I think he's ready for our big beach trip next week!

Poppy let him have some of his sweet tea!

We also took Harrison and Will's girlfriend, Megan, to the Homosassa Springs Attraction where you can see lots of Florida wildlife, including bears, panthers, flamingoes, cranes, alligators, and manatees. Harrison loved being outside and looking at all the animals.

Here's Car Car and Megan in front of one of the HUGE alligators! Megan was very brave to get her picture taken in front of one as she was not too thrilled to be in such close proximity to these deadly reptiles.

Harrison loved the Fish Bowl. We'll have to take him to the Georgia Aquarium sometime soon!

Look at this cute manatee!

While Mandy went to a singing competition in Palatka on Sunday, the rest of us went to Crackers on the Crystal River and ate lots of seafood outside. Harrison tried tuna, hush puppies and French fries and loved everything! He was so full when we were done, but he saved room for a couple of bites of Mommy's chocolate ice cream.

He had a great time looking at the water and walking up and down the sidewalk holding onto the bars.

It was a great end to a wonderful weekend!

11 Months Old!

Harrison is 11 months old today! He went to the doctor today for a check up and he weighs 23 pounds and is 28 1/2 inches long. Such a big boy! He is pulling up everywhere and is really close to "letting go". I think the day when he stands on his own is right around the corner (and then walking!). He can say "Ma Ma" and "Da Da" and "Ba Ba" (Ba Ba means lots of things.......bottle, bye bye......). He also has 6 teeth now.....his two front teeth are halfway in and he just cut his eye teeth. Here are some recent pictures!

No more spike/mohawk! Mommy is so sad!

Look, only one hand! I do this all the time now!

Gracie is still his best buddy.

We had breakfast with Willy and Megan on Sunday at one of our favorite restaurants, the Old Hickory House. It was so good to see them! Megan moved here last weekend so she is officially an Atlantan now!

You Kill It, We Grill It!

We attended the Sansaverinos' annual You Kill It, We Grill It party on Saturday and had such a fun time! Katie, Dave and Lucas really know how to throw a party (as always). They had a blow up jungle gym for the kids and lots of great drinks and food on hand for the adults (even a margarita machine! I was in heaven!). It was also a gorgeous day, sunny and in the low 70s. Perfect for grilling!

Harrison had a great time playing horseshoes with his Daddy!

Jim and Lisa's Wedding

We went to Jim (aka "Gano") and Lisa's wedding on Mother's Day weekend and had a great time! Well, besides the fact that I had a stomach virus AGAIN for the second weekend in a row (Harrison had it again too while he was home with Nana and Papa Carter). But it was a very nice "Parents' Weekend Out" for everyone and it was so nice to see old friends again. It was also Virginia Tech's graduation weekend, so Rob and Jason were able to stop by campus and pay their respects to the shooting victims. Go Hokies!

(By the way, Harrison gave me a new camera for Mother's Day which I used to take these pictures! Thanks Harrison, I love you buddy!)

Marin's Baby Shower

I went to Boston the weekend of Cinco De Mayo for my friend Marin's baby shower. I haven't seen Marin in a couple of years, and wanted to visit her and her husband Eric and see their new house! Jaime and Carla were able to come to the shower too, so we had a great time seeing each other. Other than the fact that I was sick most of the time I was there with a stomach virus (Jason and Harrison also had it at home in Atlanta), it was a wonderful time! I can't wait for Baby Knight to be here!

In front of Marin and Eric's home in Charlestown. The oldest bar in America is right down the street!

This was my first time on the T.

After a yummy dinner on Friday night.

Look at that gorgeous Mama!

Busy Family Weekends

Whew! The Carters have had a busy couple of weeks. We've had family in town the past two weekends which has been wonderful. Nana and Papa Carter came in town the weekend of April 20th, and we went all went out to dinner (with Jeff and Caitlin too) at Benihana's to celebrate Jason's and Papa's birthdays. It has become a tradition to celebrate their birthdays at a Japanese steakhouse, and Harrison loved his first experience! He loved the show the chef put on and was entertained by his surroundings all night. The rest of us were entertained by the prom groups that ate there too! We also took Harrison to the Dunwoody Nature Trails that weekend because the weather was so nice. We had fun walking around and playing on the swings and slides with Caitlin. The doggies also took a nice swim in the creek! Harrison also started trying to pull up that weekend and was successful a couple of times with the help of Gracie, but wasn't quite there doing it on his own yet.

But sure enough, that following Monday the 23rd, Harrison was pulling up on the coffee table and sofas all by himself!

Then the next weekend, Poppy and Car Car Eschen came into town for a visit and were able to witness Harrison's crawling skills for the first time, as well as his new pulling up skills (as Anna Almstedt would say, chicks dig guys with skills)! It was another beautiful weekend, and we filled it with golf, shopping, and helping Will move into his new house. We also attended Baby Day at our church, where they honor the babies that have been born in the church over the past year. Harrison was a huge hit of course, as he "waved" to the parishioners as we walked down the aisle after being presented!

Harrison loves his Papa. He has such a special knack of getting him to sleep!

Mr. Sandman is here again!

Harrison absolutely adores Caitlin, she is so good to him and and always plays with him. Also, today is Caitlin's 11th birthday.........HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAITLIN!!

Wearing my new flip flops!

Here's one of the first times I pulled up! It was Monday morning before going to school.

At Uncle Willy's new house!

Willy has a cool swing in his new backyard.

We ate breakfast at the Hickory House before church. Yum!
