New Kid at School

Alas, my 12 weeks of maternity leave are over and I had to go back to work this past week. So that meant it was Avery's first week of nursery school! Here are some pictures of our sweet girl before her first day. Her teachers said she did wonderfully, and was hardly ever fussy. She napped well and just looked around at everything and smiled and talked. We are so proud of her!

More Fun in the Sun

Poppy and Car Car were in town for a few days this past week and we spent a lot of time outside, playing in the pool and with the hose.

Here's the choo choo boy (as Poppy calls him), in his choo choo bathing suit and choo choo hat!

Here is my son drinking water out of the pool like a dog. I guess it's only fitting, since his older brother and sister are of the canine variety!

Everyone had to try on the choo choo hat at some point. Here is Avery sporting the item....

.....and Gracie taking her turn!

Just a cute one of Avery smiling - she is the happiest baby ever!

The Sagers gave Harrison a finger painting set for his birthday, complete with smock (which was very helpful). He had a great time playing with it on a very rainy Sunday! Thanks Sagers!

Fourth of July

We went down to Montgomery and Billingsley to visit the Carter clan for the long Fourth of July weekend and had a great time visiting with family, swimming, grilling, and watching Wimbledon! It is so neat that there are so many Carter kids/babies and it is so fun when everyone gets together.

Here's our Fourth of July boy, all dressed up for the parade at school!

It was our little girl's first Fourth! Thanks for the cute outfit, Christine!

Harrison and Hadley were SO cute together, they played together all day long on the Fourth. Harrison followed her around like a little puppy dog. They splashed in the pool, played with chalk, pushed each other around on cars, and played on the swingset together! Here they are eating hot dog buns. Yep, that's right, no actual hot dogs inside, just the buns.

Jason with 5/7ths of the Carter great-grandchildren, - Caitlin is holding Kenley, he's holding Avery, and Harrison and Hadley are sitting on the swing.

Caitlin was so wonderful all weekend, helping with all of the children, especially Harrison and Avery. She held Avery a lot and helped feed her, change her, and get her to sleep! They are best buddies!

Two Months Old

Avery turned two months old yesterday! I can't believe how fast the time is flying, and that I'll be going back to work in three weeks, boo hoo! She is growing up and is so big now. She had her two-month appointment yesterday and weighs 11 pounds, 5 ounces (75th percentile) and is 23 inches long (75th-90th percentile). It is no surprise to us that she is above average in every way! She smiles all the time now, and coos and talks in response to someone else talking or singing. Even her pediatrician noticed how "social" she is already, as she looked at him the whole time he was talking and just smiled away (that was before she got her shots, of course!). She still loves her bouncy seat, and also enjoys the baby gym on the floor. Her favorite, though, is just for someone to hold her and walk around the house.

Here is our monthly chair picture!

Here's a close up - with a big smile!

Harrison is definitely still very cute with her. He kisses her goodbye when he goes to school and when he goes to bed. Here he is "sharing" toys with her! It was totally unprompted by me, he was playing with her toys and I was saying they were the baby's toys, and he handed one to her and said "thank you" for her! It was the cutest thing.

Now we both have a toy to play with!

Jason falls asleep almost every time he holds her, so she takes lots of naps with Daddy!

So Will and Megan left our house this morning to make their trek to California. It was very sad to see them leave, but we are very happy and excited for them as they start their adventure and their new life together. We are going to miss them here in Atlanta so much!

Here they are, posing with their kids Bailey and Maggie before heading out.
