Two Months Old

Avery turned two months old yesterday! I can't believe how fast the time is flying, and that I'll be going back to work in three weeks, boo hoo! She is growing up and is so big now. She had her two-month appointment yesterday and weighs 11 pounds, 5 ounces (75th percentile) and is 23 inches long (75th-90th percentile). It is no surprise to us that she is above average in every way! She smiles all the time now, and coos and talks in response to someone else talking or singing. Even her pediatrician noticed how "social" she is already, as she looked at him the whole time he was talking and just smiled away (that was before she got her shots, of course!). She still loves her bouncy seat, and also enjoys the baby gym on the floor. Her favorite, though, is just for someone to hold her and walk around the house.

Here is our monthly chair picture!

Here's a close up - with a big smile!

Harrison is definitely still very cute with her. He kisses her goodbye when he goes to school and when he goes to bed. Here he is "sharing" toys with her! It was totally unprompted by me, he was playing with her toys and I was saying they were the baby's toys, and he handed one to her and said "thank you" for her! It was the cutest thing.

Now we both have a toy to play with!

Jason falls asleep almost every time he holds her, so she takes lots of naps with Daddy!

So Will and Megan left our house this morning to make their trek to California. It was very sad to see them leave, but we are very happy and excited for them as they start their adventure and their new life together. We are going to miss them here in Atlanta so much!

Here they are, posing with their kids Bailey and Maggie before heading out.

Happy Birthday Harrison and Poppy!

Harrison and Poppy celebrated their birthdays this past Sunday, and in honor of Harrison turning two we had a birthday party on Saturday afternoon. It was such a fun gathering of family and friends! Then we celebrated Poppy's birthday on Sunday with one of his favorite meals and a yummy chocolate cake.

Harrison had his 2 year old check up today, and he was 29 pounds (50-75th percentile) and 34 inches tall (75th percentile). His head, as always, was in the 90th percentile. We can't believe our little boy is growing up so fast!

He broke into a big smile when everyone started singing!

He LOVED the cupcake this year, unlike last year when he turned down his cake!

Playing with his new choo choo table with Henry.

He helped Poppy blow out the candles on his cake!

Summer Camp

Harrison's teachers at his new school are so nice and have already emailed and printed us out some pictures from his first week at "summer camp"! It is so neat to be able to see some of the things they do during the day when we're not around. Here are some of my favorites.

Dancing with Chloe! Chloe is an old friend, they know each other from their previous school.

Here are the kids during Water/Splash Day. Harrison is on the far left in an orange shirt, checking out the splashing action.

Doing one of his favorite things, playing with cars!

"I Heart My Bouncy Seat"

That's what Avery would say if she could talk! We spend lots of time in the bouncy seat these days, and she has started smiling a lot in general, but especially when she's in her favorite seat. So, of course, I sit there with my camera taking picture after picture to try and capture one! And I finally did! Here are a couple of her smiles below. Jason and I just love how much she smiles now. She's really starting to respond to our voices and looks around so much more.

Here are a couple more I couldn't resist posting! The first one I thought was cute since she was "talking", and the second one was the first time she fell asleep in the bouncy seat. SO sweet! We are having so much fun with her!

HOT June Weekend

This weekend was unseasonably hot for Atlanta, YUCK! It hit almost 100 every day. We stayed extremely busy all weekend attempting to stay cool.

On Friday afternoon, Avery and I went over to Sara's to meet Renee and Kim who wanted to see her. We had a great lunch together and Avery was very good........maybe she did that on purpose so that Renee and Kim would think about babies??? Good job Avery! And thanks for hosting Sara and Anna!

On Friday night, our friends, the Seavers (Mark and Kathy have twin girls who are 7 months old) invited us over to have dinner and swim in their pool. So we had a good time up there hanging out and trying to beat the heat. Here's Avery chilling by the pool in one of her new little summer outfits!

Then on Saturday, the Slacks had us over for Henry's 2 year old birthday party. Harrison and Henry did a great job staying cool in the dolphin pool, splashing each other and playing in the fountain. They also enjoyed the bubble machine, that is always a huge hit with those boys.

Afterwards, they raced cars around the house. And when I say "race", I do mean RACE.

Here's the birthday boy with his grandma Ellie!

Sunday morning we stayed in the house. Avery is enjoying tummy time every day, and spends several minutes looking around and exercising. She can move her head from side to side now real well. Harrison was very interested in tummy time and decided to join her.

There's another bald spot!

So sweet!

THEN, we capped off the HOT weekend by going over to Caroline, Ken and Cameron's on Sunday night to hang out in their pool. Will and Megan came over too, so it was very nice to see them as we don't have much time with them before they move to California on July 2nd! By Sunday night, however, the heat from the weekend must have fried my brain because I forgot to bring my camera to take pictures. However, I did take this picture of Avery when we got home in another one of her cute summer outfits. I have to admit, I truly do treat her like a doll, I find excuses to change her clothes all the time, I LOVE dressing her up!

So now, here we are, Monday morning. Today was Harrison's first day at his new preschool! Here he is before he and Jason left this morning in his new school T-shirt that they are supposed to wear every Monday. He's standing next to his new tote bag that is stuffed to the brim with all of his school "supplies". I was trying to get him to smile for the camera by singing "If You're Happy and You Know It.....", so here he is clapping and singing along! Jason said the drop off at the new school went exceptionally well, he didn't skip a beat. His friend Henry was already there, so they went off to play and were having a great time when Jason left! Such a good boy!

One Month Old!

Avery turned one month old yesterday! I can't believe how fast the time is flying. She is such a sweet little girl, we are so blessed to have her. She continues to sleep and eat well, and is starting to react more to sounds and voices around her. She also "smiles" more now, which we know is probably not a real smile, but it's cute just the same. She is also taking after some members of my side of the family with a serious case of male pattern baldness, as she has lost most of the hair on the top of her head! She loves to sleep in her swing and her moses basket during the day, and is getting used to spending time in the Baby Bjorn and the bouncy seat. Every time we give her a bath, she cries less and less, so I hope she's getting more used to it and enjoying it more. Harrison continues to be good with her, saying "uh oh baby" when she cries, and "night night baby" when she's asleep! He likes to hand us her pacifier too, which is nice of him to think of her.

Avery had her one month appointment today. She weighed 9 pounds, 6 ounces (75th percentile) and was 22 inches tall (75th-90th percentile).

I'm going to try to take a picture of Avery in her pink chair every time she turns a month older so we can see how much she's growing!

Here's a close-up, you can see a little bit of the male pattern baldness.
